Hi, welcome to my blog. In this article we will share about cross stitch kits for beginners. But before we start, we will talk about cross stitch first.
Cross stitch is one of the most popular types of embroidery to beautify homes as a wall decoration or applied to objects such as tablecloths, pillowcases, bags, greeting cards, clothing decorations, etc. What distinguishes cross stitch from other embroidery is the cross shaped stitches (X). The stitches will form a picture.

The materials used to make cross stitch is cross stitch fabric or plastic canvas.

Making cross stitch using plastic canvas will produce larger images than using cross stitch fabric. If you use plastic canvas, you must be careful when stitching because the plastic canvas breaks easily. For better results, the plastic canvas must be all stitched.
It’s different if you use a cross stitch fabric, you can stitch the background or not after the image is finished depending on your taste. We often just stitched the picture.

After you read the cross stitch kits for beginners above, the next step is to prepare the fabric cross stitch.
2 TIPS TO PREPARE FABRIC CROSS STITCH
Cross stitch fabric is one of the materials for making cross stitch embroidery. Before starting embroidery, prepare the cross stitch fabric first.
The first thing to do is determine the size of the fabric we need. Then cut the cross stitch fabric following the holes of the straight cross stitch fabric as shown below.

The cross stitch fabric pieces will come off easily when used for embroidery. Use two ways so that the ends do not come off.
TIPS 1
The first is by burning the edge of the cross stitch fabric with fire.

The results of cross stitch fabric whose edges are burned by fire are usually not neat and sometimes reduce the size of the cross stitch fabric needed. So we suggest that if you are going to tidy up the edges of the cross stitch fabric with fire, you should increase the size of the cross stitch fabric. So if the results are not neat and reducing the size of the cross stitch fabric will not change the size of the cross stitch fabric needed.
TIPS 2
If you want neater results, you can do it a second way, namely sewing the edges of the fabric with a sewing machine. We use a zig-zag stitch.
Burning the edges of the cross stitch fabric with fire must be done carefully, don’t let the cross stitch fabric catch fire.

The following is a picture of the difference between using fire and a sewing machine to keep the edges of the cross stitch fabric from falling apart when embroidered.
We mostly use the second method. But at the beginning, we learned to cross stitch using the first method. If you don’t have a sewing machine, burning the edges of the fabric can be an alternative that you can choose.
