CACTUS CROSS STITCH

Hello, welcome back to our blog. In the previous article we have shared 2 beautiful florist cross stitch patterns which you can download for free here. For this article we will share two cactus cross stitch projects.

As usual, the cross stitch projects that we share are our own creations, starting from making patterns and turning them into cross stitch patterns which you can download for free on this blog. In this article we will also share several photos of the process of making the cross stitch embroidery of the two cacti.

This cross stitch of two cacti was inspired by several photos we saw showing mini cacti as room decorations. We think that making this mini cactus cross stitch will also beautify your room. Especially for those of you who like cacti but are so busy that you don’t have time to care for the plants, maybe you could choose a cactus in the form of cross stitch embroidery to decorate your home.

This cactus embroidery pattern is not complicated, so for those of you who are beginners or busy, it won’t take long to complete it. These two patterns have different sizes. Let’s start with the smaller cacti first.

CACTUS IN A GREEN CUP CROSS STITCH

Our first cross stitch project was a mini cactus in a green cup. We used three different shades of green. Two for the cactus and one for the cup. You can see the sketch below before it was turned into a pattern.

Tools and Materials

To start making cross stitch embroidery you have to prepare the tools and materials first. For those of you who are still beginners, you can read about the cross stitch embroidery equipment you need in the article Cross Stitch Kits for Beginners here. In the photo below you can see the tools and materials that we prepared, namely 3 different green wool threads, scissors, a needle and cross stitch fabric.

Tools and materials

Apart from these tools and materials, there is one more thing you have to prepare, namely the cross stitch pattern. You don’t need to worry because the pattern can be downloaded for free here.

This first cactus cross stitch has an easy and simple design so it only takes you a few hours to make it. Below are some photos of the finished cactus stitch.

Let’s move on to the second cactus cross stitch project. Of course, the next cross stitch is no less beautiful than the first.

CACTUS IN A PINK POT CROSS STITCH

The second cross stitch project is larger. However, the pattern design is not complicated so it is easy to make. This pattern design is in the form of three cacti in a pink pot. This pattern consists of five colors.

Tools and Materials

The tools and materials you have to prepare are 5 colored threads consisting of 3 different colored green threads for the cactus and 2 different colored pink threads for the pot. Most of the cross stitch embroidery we make uses wool thread. But you don’t have to use wool thread. Please use what yarn you like.

Not only the type of thread, you can also choose the thread color according to your wishes, it doesn’t have to be exactly the same as our chosen thread.

In the photo above you can see the cross stitch equipment that we prepared, namely wool thread, scissors, needle, cross stitch fabric and a cactus pattern. You can download the cactus pattern for free here.

We usually start making cross stitch from the middle of the cross stitch fabric. You can read article How to Cross Stitch Step by Step for Beginners here to find out how we create cross stitch from start to finish.

Below we will share several photos of the process of making the second cross stitch.

How to Make Cross Stitch

To simplify and speed up the process of making cross stitch, we make the outer part first, namely thread with code C for the pot part and thread with code B for the cactus part. Next, thread code E for the spines. After that, you can fill in the blanks with code A for the cactus section and code D for the pot section without looking at the pattern.

Even though this second cross stitch is easy to make, the results are not disappointing. You can see some photos of the finished pink potted cactus embroidery results below.
